Data Deletion

PostLake lets you connect your social accounts and publish to them. This page explains how to delete the data we hold about you and your connected accounts.

What we store

When you connect a social account, we store the access tokens needed to post on your behalf (encrypted at rest), the account's handle, and the posts you create through PostLake. We never store your social platform password. Full detail is in our Privacy Policy.

How to request deletion

Disconnect one account: on your Channels page, click the ✕ next to any connected account. This immediately deletes the stored tokens for that account.
Delete your account: open Settings in your dashboard, choose Delete account and type DELETE to confirm. This removes your account, connected-account tokens, posts and uploaded media. If you cannot sign in, email support@postlake.dev from your account email. We will verify ownership, process your erasure request without undue delay and confirm once done.
Via the platform: if you remove PostLake from a connected platform (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, Threads), that platform notifies us automatically and we delete the data we hold for that connection.

How long it takes

Uploaded media: open Uploads, choose Review deletion and review affected posts before confirming erasure. Drafts, approval requests and pending publications must stop using the file first. API clients use a preview snapshot with DELETE /v1/media/{id}. The original and previews are erased; published social posts remain online. You may also email media IDs from your account email for support-assisted erasure. Account erasure removes original uploads and their stored previews as well as account records. Storage cleanup must succeed before deletion completes; a failure retains the manifest for retry and must not be described as completed. Cancelling or deleting a post does not erase its uploaded asset, because another draft or schedule may reuse it. Disconnecting a channel and cancelling a subscription do not erase your uploads either. The 90-day minimum and scheduled protection do not prevent an authorised erasure request. Deleting PostLake's copies does not delete copies already transferred to other services or people.

Disconnecting an account is immediate. Full account-deletion requests are actioned within 30 days, usually much sooner.

Removing PostLake deletes the data we hold. It does not delete posts already published to a social network. You'll need to remove those on the network itself.
